We decided to publish our own and keep it current, with the facts that matter: who owns the brand, where it is produced, and what it offers. Shadow Tequila appears on this list because we belong on it, and we have noted where every brand is made so you can judge the craft for yourself.
Shadow Tequila
Shadow Tequila is a Tennessee owned brand founded by siblings Teddy and Tiara Jasper, born and raised in Memphis. The spirit is crafted at Casa Maestri, NOM 1438, in Tequila, Jalisco. Crafted in Jalisco, embraced in Tennessee. The lineup includes a Blanco, a Reposado, and an Añejo, each made from 100% blue Weber agave, slow cooked in traditional brick ovens, and double distilled. Shadow is stocked in more than 140 Tennessee locations and distributed by Eagle Distributing in Memphis and Ajax Turner in Nashville. Find a store near you or shop the lineup online.
Anteel Tequila
Anteel was founded in 2017 by husband and wife Don and Nayana Ferguson. Nayana is recognized as one of the first Black women to co own a tequila brand. Anteel produces certified additive free tequila at NOM 1438, the same distillery that crafts Shadow, and its lineup includes a Blanco, a Reposado, and a Coconut Lime Blanco.
Los Hermanos Tequila
Brothers William and Donta Henson founded Los Hermanos in Baltimore. The brand is both Black owned and veteran owned, and its Blanco and Reposado are also produced at Casa Maestri in Jalisco.
TCapri Tequila
TCapri was founded by Tiffany Capri Hainesworth, widely cited as one of the first Black women to own a tequila company. The brand produces small batch tequila from 100% blue Weber agave in the Jalisco highlands.
Jon Basil Tequila
Jon Basil is a Chicago based brand founded in 2018. Its Blanco and Reposado blend highland and lowland agave for a balanced profile.
Lobos 1707
Lobos 1707 was founded by Diego Osorio with LeBron James as a founding partner. The brand ages its expressions in Pedro Ximénez wine barrels and offers a Joven, a Reposado, and an Extra Añejo, all certified additive free.
Gran Coramino
Gran Coramino was founded by Kevin Hart with eleventh generation tequila maker Juan Domingo Beckmann. Produced at NOM 1122, the portfolio includes a Cristalino Reposado, a Reposado, and an Añejo.
Don Londrès
Don Londrès was founded by music executive Dre London. The brand is produced in Jalisco and built around an additive free production philosophy.
How to support these brands
Ask for them by name. Distribution is the hardest problem an independent spirits brand faces, and a single request at a bar, restaurant, or liquor store carries real weight.
