Casa Maestri NOM 1438: Where Shadow Tequila Is Crafted

Every authentic tequila carries a NOM, a four digit number issued by the Mexican government that identifies the distillery where it was produced. Shadow Tequila carries NOM 1438. That number belongs to Casa Maestri, Destiladora del Valle de Tequila, in the town of Tequila, Jalisco.

Why the NOM matters

The NOM is the single most reliable piece of information on a tequila label. It tells you exactly where the spirit was made, regardless of what the marketing says. Any bottle of Shadow can be verified by checking NOM 1438 against the official registry. We publish ours openly because transparency is part of how we earn trust.

Casa Maestri, NOM 1438

Casa Maestri is a family owned distillery in the Tequila Valley of Jalisco and is widely recognized as one of the most awarded distilleries in Mexico. It produces for respected independent brands across the world, and several of the leading Black owned tequila brands, including Anteel and Los Hermanos, craft their spirits there as well. We chose Casa Maestri for its craftsmanship, consistency, and respect for traditional methods.

How Shadow is made

Every expression of Shadow begins with 100% blue Weber agave. The piñas are slow cooked in traditional brick ovens, then the juice is fermented and double distilled. The Blanco is bottled to preserve the pure character of the agave. The Reposado and Añejo rest in oak, where time builds depth and balance. Nothing about the process is rushed.

Tennessee owned, Jalisco crafted

Tequila can only be produced in designated regions of Mexico, and that is where Shadow is made. The brand itself is Tennessee owned, founded by siblings Teddy and Tiara Jasper of Memphis, and stocked in more than 140 locations across the state. Crafted in Jalisco, embraced in Tennessee.
